I was one of the founding members when DHAT formed in 1996 and currently serve as the President. I believe quality care should always incorporate patient education. It is important to me that my patients understand the process of testing, diagnosing and treatment options involved with their particular condition. This encourages productive patient involvement and better outcomes. I have a garage filled with large and small power tools, for both woodworking and metalworking. I am very artistic and paint on canvas frequently, water sports and outdoor activities with my wife and 4 boys are usually on my weekend agenda.

I have been with DHAT since it was formed in 1996. I am currently the immediate past president for the American College of Gastroenterology. I have always been involved in organized medicine in an effort to be involved in shaping our healthcare system and fighting for what is right for the best in patient care. My hobbies are playing golf with my wife on weekends (she is the better golfer) and fishing (I have her there).

Quality patient care to me, involves making the patient an active participant in their own care. This is accomplished by first listening in depth to the individual, coming up with a mutually agreed upon treatment plan and educating the patient in regards to the underlying disease process. I have been with DHAT for 20 years.

One interesting thing that people may not know about me is that all my siblings and father are doctors as well as 2 cousins, 1 uncle and 2 brother in laws. I enjoy biking, playing basketball and walking the dog.
